What do appointments at M2 Chiropractic look like?

Hi, I'm Dr. Konner Ackerman with M2 Chiropractic and I'm here to tell you about

chiropractic care and what that looks like with me.

Typically, I start out with an extensive medical history, which includes me asking a ton of

questions. This allows me to get to know you better and have an in depth understanding

as to what is going on and what your specific goals are. That could be anything ranging

from long term symptom relief to a wanting a quick tune up to keep you going throughout

the week. I want to make sure we are on the same page so that way we can figure out the

most appropriate plan to reach your goals.

I then proceed with a thorough physical exam. The goal of the exam is figure out the root

cause of your symptoms. If we do not get to the root cause of your symptoms, it is like

slapping a bandaid over a paper cut that can just keep reopening, rather than actually

taking steps in the right direction to get you feeling better. I begin the exam with a

movement screen, which allows me to observe how you move from head to toe and

identify areas that are contributing to your symptoms or could potentially be underlying

problems. The movement screen also allows for me to dive a little bit deeper into a more

specific exam to figure out the root cause of where your symptoms are coming from. For

the remainder of the exam, I test out muscle strength and activation, range of motion, and

perform more specific tests directly related to the areas giving you grief in order to identify

where the symptoms are specifically coming from.

Following the exam, I'm then able to have an open conversation with you about what the

diagnosis is, where your symptoms are coming from, and how we can get you feeling

better. This also opens the door for you to ask any questions and talk about any concerns

that you may have. At this point, I'll be able to explain a proper treatment program for you

as well so that way we can work towards reaching your goals. After receiving your consent and approval,

we begin the treatment process!

Typically after the first visit, treatment includes soft tissue therapies (work on muscles,

tendons, ligaments, fascia or nerves), adjustments/mobilizations with my hands or an

adjusting tool to decrease pain and improve motion/mobility, and I typically follow up with

rehabilitation/corrective exercises in order to get you feeling better effectively and safely.

Moving forward, each appointment typically includes what was mentioned above in a

progression. As symptoms begin to improve with improved motion and ability to perform

the exercises, new and more difficult exercises are prescribed to keep you headed in the

right direction.

I hope this may answer some questions. Please feel free to contact us at M2 Chiropractic

if you have any further questions!
