When people think of chiropractors, back pain is generally the next thought. Back pain is one of the most common reasons to come visit our Allen and Addison chiropractors. The back consists of the spine and when it's not working correctly, the whole body suffers. Fortunately, chiropractors have great success with not only managing back pain but finding the exact cause of the pain and putting an end to it quickly, without the need for surgery.
Chiropractic Care
We treat most neuromusculoskeletal disorders in the body. We don’t just focus on the spine, but we include the extremities (shoulders, arms, hips, knees, ankles, and feet) as well.
Chiropractic Adjustments
Adjustments can be performed in the spine and the extremities to help increase motion and to decrease pain.
Chiropractic Mobilizations
We utilize mobilizations in some cases rather than adjustments to help increase motion and decrease pain in different areas of the body.
Soft Tissue Mobilization Techniques
We utilize techniques that target the tissues that overly the muscles, muscles themselves, ligaments, tendons, and nerves to decrease pain and increase motion. Some of these techniques include ART/pin and stretch, FDM, trigger point therapy, PNF, MET, and stretching.
Dry Needling
Dry needling is a new soft tissue mobilization technique where a small needle can be inserted directly into a trigger point or irritated portion of a muscle to help decrease pain, decrease spasm, increase blood flow and increase muscle activation. E-stim, otherwise known as electrical stimulation, can be applied to the needles to create a muscle twitch response as well to decrease pain and increase muscle function further.
Corrective Exercises
With increased motion, we teach strengthening and stabilization exercises as well for patients—this helps to facilitate long-term pain relief and assist in patients reaching their goals.
Wellness Plans and Goals
Not all patients are in pain and just want to utilize us for preventative care, help with stiffness, and to keep them going. We provide each wellness patient like any other patient to help him, or her reach their goals and provide services that facilitate their lifestyle.
Kinesiotape/RockTape/LeukoTape/Athletic Tape
Different kinds of tape have different purposes. Some tapes like Kinesiotape and RockTape help with pain and to increase some neurological awareness to the area when applied appropriately. Other tapes are more rigid and help with bracing or supporting certain areas of the body as well. Some of these taping techniques are very advanced and can be helpful from an athletic and sports medicine standpoint.
Concussion Testing
We perform a thorough baseline and follow-up concussion testing procedures for athletes as well. The testing is incredibly evidence-based and is the highest quality examination one can perform to date.
Sports Physicals
We also perform sports physicals for our athletes that require one. It is in-depth, and we can also help to identify areas that should be addressed in order to prevent injuries or even treat them.
